Peace

This is my journal page for the Viva Las Vegas Stamps February Challenge. Luckily I had some Banksy inspired stamps on the way to fit the criteria.

Stamps used:
Plate 927: Pulse Rate & One Way
Plate 1443: Spray Can Cop
Small Gear - came in my pound o' rubber.

I started with pieces of Gelli prints. Then came various layers of gesso, dripped inks, spray paints, doodling and edging with black and white. The horse image came from a magazine.

Wanderlust

Having received a new package of stamps from Viva Las Vegas Stamps, i thought some of them would be appropriate to create and entry for Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge - Transport It. It is all about journeying and going where your desires take you.

Shine Bright

This is a 'playing' session using some very cheap water colours from the $2 shop. I'm just learning and experimenting but decided that this worked for Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Fantastic Florals.
I like how the splashing with water and lifting some paint worked. I wanted to keep the overall affect subtle so outlined with white gel pen.

Twelve Month Challenge -February

This spread is for The Craft Barn Twelve Month Challenge for February. Again I have completed a double spread - a winter and summer version.
The original 'winter'version had to include a cherub and heart, as well as the lines from Sara Coleridge's poem. I wasn't really sure how the objects fitted with the words - maybe something to do with February and Valentine's Day?? - hence, although I'm fine with the page, I feel it's a bit of a mish-mash because of the words. Still it fits the challenge.
I started making the hearts with texture paste and colouring them with glaze but did not feel they stood out enough and so eventually stamped over the top of some with the red hearts. I do like the cherubs as it is just like the 'swaps' I had as a child.

And the cover of the journal I made for this challenge:

Love - Believe

This card has been created for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Young At Heart.

I started by wetting Reeves Acrylic paper and then applying colour from Inktense Blocks. At this stage I really didn't like how it was turning out but with the addition of the stamping and the hearts, matching the border colour, it came together.
I edged the craft card base with bronze Sharpie and added the words - now I like it.

Pets Corner

This is actually the practice run I did of a photo transfer I did on a wood block, for a present. Of course I forgot to take a photo of the one that turned out better, but this is what I have so I am entering in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Pets Corner.
I was reasonably happy with this as a trial, but the next attempt was much better. I will have to try to get a photo of the final piece when I visit my daughter and post again.

Today

After my last post, I had really enjoyed the colour combination of the pink and orange as per the Paper Artsy Challenge. The sewn circles by Jane LaFazio reminded me of art I have done with my class in the past, and thought we could extend this this by including some sewing.
I had intended this to be a two page spread in my small home made journal, but in the end the pages became separate and did not really connect with each other.
They are having to be one entry for this challenge though. It's late on Sunday night and I only have time for one blog post!

Explore, Dream, Discover

This is another piece inspired by Our Mixed Media Moods by DeeDee Catron & Jenn Engle. I love what they do in their art and have finally been brave enough to film a short clip of myself creating. I wasn't brave enough to speak yet, but it's start.
We know how these challenges often overlap and I found that what I created also fitted perfectly with the latest Paper Artsy challenge, Pink & Orange. Traditionally we probably wouldn't put these colours together but in art they look amazing and I loved this piece and the colour combination is sure to appear again. I was especially drawn to the boldness of the Dina Wakley piece, but also the subtleness of Elise Engh's feathers, as posted on the PA blog.

Here is Our MMM inspiration board. My inspiration came from the cloours, top left, and the roses, botton middle.
